Responsibilities:
Guest Service:
- Assist in welcoming guests and guiding them to their tables.
- Take and deliver food and beverage orders with attention to detail.
- Provide assistance to guests with menu selections and accommodate special requests.
Food and Beverage Service:
- Serve dishes and beverages in accordance with luxury service standards.
- Ensure that food is presented attractively and served at the appropriate temperature.
- Clear tables and reset for the next guests, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization.
Preparation and Presentation:
- Prepare tables and dining areas before guests arrive, including setting up silverware, glassware, and table settings.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of special events or functions.
- Handle and store food and beverages according to hygiene and safety standards.
Communication and Coordination:
- Collaborate with other members of the service team, including senior waitstaff and kitchen personnel, to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate effectively to address guest needs and handle any special requests or dietary requirements.
Maintaining Standards:
- Follow all onboard health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation practices.
- Maintain a polished appearance and adhere to the dress code and grooming standards of the cruise line.
Training and Development:
- Participate in training sessions and team meetings to enhance service skills and knowledge of the menu and beverage offerings.
- Continuously seek to improve service delivery and guest satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in a food service or hospitality role is often preferred but not always required.
- Skills: Good communication, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Language: Proficiency in English and German.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to handle the physical demands of the job, including standing for extended periods and carrying trays.
Working Conditions:
- Environment: Work in a luxury cruise ship environment, which involves being away from home for extended periods.
- Hours: Flexibility to work long hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, often on a rotating shift basis.
