Key Responsibilities:
Guest Service:
- Provide personalized and attentive service to guests, addressing their needs and preferences.
- Present menus, explain daily specials, and offer recommendations on food and wine pairings.
- Handle guest inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints with professionalism and efficiency.
Service Management:
- Oversee a designated section of the restaurant, ensuring that all service standards are met.
- Coordinate with the kitchen and other service staff to ensure timely and accurate delivery of orders.
- Monitor the quality and presentation of dishes before they reach the guests.
Team Supervision:
- Lead and support junior waitstaff, including Commis de Rang and Demi Chefs de Rang.
- Train new staff members on service procedures and standards.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively to ensure smooth service operations.
Operational Duties:
- Set up and reset tables according to the cruise line’s standards, ensuring a clean and organized dining environment.
- Maintain knowledge of the menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and potential allergens.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper handling of food and beverages.
Guest Relations:
- Build rapport with guests, anticipating their needs and preferences to enhance their dining experience.
- Collect feedback from guests and communicate it to the relevant departments for continuous improvement.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and courtesy at all times.
Administrative Tasks:
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking supplies as needed.
- Participate in team meetings and briefings to stay informed about menu changes and special events.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in a fine dining or luxury environment is highly desirable. Experience on a cruise ship or in a similar hospitality role is a plus.
- Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on guest satisfaction. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of food and beverage service standards, including wine and menu knowledge. Familiarity with maritime and health safety regulations is beneficial.
- Appearance: Well-groomed and presentable, adhering to the cruise line’s uniform and grooming standards.
- Language: Proficiency in English and German.
